Following World Menopause Day (18th October), Tandem Bank has proudly partnered with Henpicked, marking the latest step in its ongoing commitment to an inclusive and supportive workplace by raising awareness, removing any stigma, and educating employees about menopause and menstrual health.
A key pillar of its broader inclusion and diversity strategy and its ongoing commitments under the Women in Finance Charter, the partnership strengthens Tandem’s commitment to recognising and supporting employees through every stage of life.
Henpicked works with hundreds of employers across the UK to improve menopause awareness, support and education. The organisation also leads the Menopause Friendly Accreditation, an industry-recognised mark of excellence for menopause at work. Henpicked’s training and membership make it easier for employers like Tandem to deliver meaningful, practical change.
As a member, Tandem has demonstrated its commitment to being a menstruation and menopause-friendly employer, with real-world examples and testimonials showing action behind its words. But this partnership is just the start.
Tandem has already begun implementing new initiatives and policies to strengthen support across the business. These include:
This initiative sits alongside Tandem’s ongoing work to improve gender representation and be an inclusive employer. Having signed HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter, the bank has set a target for at least 35% of senior leadership roles to be held by women by the end of 2026.
To support that ambition, Tandem is ensuring gender-balanced shortlists for senior roles, launching Gender Balance and Working Parents and Carers affinity groups, and is continuing to invest in its Women in Leadership Programme. The bank’s hybrid and flexible working model also continues to open opportunities for working parents and carers with a more diverse talent pool.
Catherine Diamond, Chief People Officer of Tandem Bank, said: “Partnering with Henpicked marks another important milestone in our journey to be an inclusive employer. We believe every stage of life matters and want all employees to feel heard, supported, confident, and understood.
“We’ll be rolling out training to support management with the knowledge and confidence to support their teams effectively and with empathy. But the partnership will also be relevant for everyone at Tandem – greater understanding helps us all to be more compassionate colleagues and people. Henpicked will help strengthen our infrastructure, policies, and awareness that ensure no one at Tandem has to face these experiences alone or in silence, and that we are truly great place to work.”
Deborah Garlick, Founder and CEO of Henpicked and Menopause Friendly, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Tandem to our Menopause Friendly membership, joining the community of employers leading the way. Their plans for mandatory manager training, clear policies and practical support show real leadership – and we know they’ll make a meaningful difference to so many people.”
Tandem sees the membership not as a finish line but as a foundation. The bank intends to continue to expand its menopause and menstruation support, including rolling out mandatory training, launching a dedicated Menopause Framework and being a menopause friendly employer.
By taking these steps, Tandem aims to ensure it continues to retain top talent from all stages and walks of life, ensuring it remains a great place to work.
