Drawing on our experience in green home finance, Tandem has worked closely with industry and Government stakeholders throughout the development of the Warm Homes Loan Scheme and is proud to support its delivery through finance provided to eligible homeowners.

Tandem is responsible for lending assessments and decisions relating to the finance. Installers are responsible for the technical quality and performance of installations.

About the scheme

The Warm Homes Loan Scheme helps eligible homeowners and private landlords access finance for energy-efficient home improvements through participating lenders, including Tandem. The loans are provided by lenders, not the Government, and customers remain responsible for repaying them.

Every application remains subject to Tandem’s eligibility requirements, affordability assessment and creditworthiness checks. Being eligible for the Scheme does not guarantee Tandem will approve an application. More information can be found on the Government’s website.

Finding an installer and checking access to Tandem finance

Tandem does not recommend specific installers, and customers cannot apply directly to Tandem. To take part in the Scheme, installers must be MCS certified. A full list of certified installers is available on the MCS website.

Please note that the MCS directory is not a list of Tandem partners. To participate in the Scheme, installers must be both MCS certified and approved to offer Tandem finance. Not all MCS-certified installers offer Tandem finance, and not all Tandem partners are MCS certified.

Not all improvements qualify

Eligibility depends on the proposed improvements, your property, the Scheme requirements and Tandem's lending criteria. Your installer can assess the work and provide a quote, while Tandem assesses eligibility for finance. Meeting the Scheme requirements does not guarantee loan approval.

How Tandem participates in the Scheme

Tandem finance is available through participating installers that are approved by Tandem and MCS certified. While your installer will assess the work and provide a quotation, Tandem will assess your eligibility for finance.

To access Tandem finance through the Scheme, an installer must be both approved to offer Tandem finance and hold the required MCS certification.

Installation suitability

An MCS-certified installer will assess the proposed improvements and provide a quotation. Tandem will assess your application for finance separately. Eligibility for the Scheme does not guarantee loan approval.

Finance information

An installer approved to offer Tandem finance can explain the finance options available. Full details of the interest rate, repayment term, total amount repayable and any applicable fees will be provided in your key information and finance agreement.

Application

Applications for Tandem finance through the Scheme must be submitted through an installer approved to offer Tandem finance. Tandem does not accept direct applications.

Lending assessment

Tandem will assess your application against the Scheme requirements, its lending criteria, and affordability and creditworthiness checks. Meeting the Scheme requirements does not guarantee loan approval.

Installation

Once finance has been approved, the installation can proceed, subject to the relevant Scheme requirements, quality standards and certification requirements.

Important information

This is a loan and must be repaid. Energy savings will vary depending on your property, the improvements installed and your energy usage, and are not guaranteed. Savings should not be assumed to cover loan repayments. You may also be eligible for grants or other government support. Learn more on the Government's website.

What if I have an existing Tandem application with installation pending?
